Solve the following.

a)  The sum of two numbers is 21. If the number is double of another, find the numbers.

      Let, the numbers are, x and 2x.

By the question, x+2x = 21

                         or, 3x = 21

                         or, x = 21/3

                         or, x=7

Thus, required two numbers are, x = 7 and 2x = 2 x 7 = 14.
